Brief History: I have been a Consultant Orthopaedic and Trauma surgeon since 1986. Over the years I have developed a special interest and expertise in shoulder problems. Since moving to Wrightington Hospital in 2000 I have operated almost exclusively on the shoulder dealing with all aspects of shoulder pathology. My practice includes a lot of arthroscopic (keyhole) procedures and I am involved with training surgeons in complex arthroscopic techniques in National courses several times a year. I also see a lot of people with arthritic conditions requiring shoulder replacement. This is a complex joint to replace and I have developed the expertise to perform some more technically demanding procedures such as the reverse polarity replacement required in advanced rotator cuff disease. I take part in local and national workshops instructing in shoulder replacement. I am involved in many research projects concerning shoulder replacement and arthroscopic surgery. |
